What is Deep Water Solo (DWS)?

Deep Water Solo (DWS), also called psicobloc, is a form of rock climbing on sea cliffs above deep water — no ropes, no harness. If you fall, you land safely in the sea below. Asia Outdoors runs licensed DWS trips on the limestone karsts of Lan Ha Bay, adjacent to Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam.

How high do you have to jump from in Deep Water Solo?

It's up to you! Your guide will encourage you to climb to your limit but you will never feel pressured. Walls range from beginner-friendly to advanced. All guides are certified and experienced.

Is Deep Water Solo safe for beginners in Cat Ba?

Yes. Asia Outdoors holds an official license from Cat Ba National Park to run DWS trips. Guides know exactly which walls have water deep enough for a safe landing and when tides are right. Hiring an independent boat for DWS is both dangerous and illegal.

Does the price include gear, guides, and lunch?

Yes. All Asia Outdoors trip prices include all climbing or kayaking gear, certified guides, harbor entry tickets, lunch, and transport to and from the location. Nothing hidden.

What is the difference between Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay?

Lan Ha Bay is part of the greater Ha Long Bay region, separated by a single channel of water. It has the same stunning limestone karst landscape but far fewer tourist boats, more peaceful waters, and more exposure to local fishing villages. All Asia Outdoors trips operate in Lan Ha Bay.
